It was a messy day for two Toronto high-rises Wednesday.
At the Marriott Bloor Yorkville Hotel, part of the ceiling caved in on the ground floor due after a pipe leaked. Matthew Desira, sales manager at the Marriott said the damage was minimal.
“We’re not going to get into a discussion over it, but basically, no one was hurt, business as usual, it was just a pipe that leaked,” said Desira.
At the Shangi-La residences on University Ave., a pane of glass fell from an upper floor Ave, prompting police to close Adelaide at Simcoe St.
Jill Killeen, a building spokesperson for the Shangri-La residences, said management is in contact with police for the ongoing investigation.
“We are aware that something has fallen from the residential side of the building, but we know that no one was injured,” said Killeen.
The city inspector is ensuring the area is safe before reopening the road.
