Author Challenges Information Revolution Mantra, Warns of a long era of Decline in “BAROQUE TOMORROW”

Toronto News, (PR) April 20, 2013

Compelling and controversial, BAROQUE TOMORROW is a riveting must-read for all those who want to understand the social, economic and historical trends of our world. Written by energy and finance expert Jack Michalowski, this work sheds a new light on our troubled reality. It shows how the slowing pace of broad innovation now increasingly narrowing down to I.T. only and slower growth of productivity tend to coincide with disturbing trends we all witness: excessive wealth concentration, stagnant economies, rising inequality and poverty, financial crises and asset bubbles, declining real incomes, shrinking middle class.

Using as example the long historical era of crisis and stagnation the Baroque the book links together social, historical and financial threads of the past with what we experience in our present, as it tries to anticipate the shape of the future. Focusing on why technological advances of the past several decades failed to bring the promised prosperity and why post-industrial economies are struggling, the book delivers a solid argument on what makes our civilizations succeed and what makes them fail.

In this insightful selection, the author provides solutions on how to tackle the malaise that go well beyond the usual recipes of increasing taxes on the wealthy and investing in infrastructure. Focusing on strong growth of middle class and wages as the main yardsticks of true progress, Michalowski shows how in the past general prosperity always followed a new wave of broad human innovation, but especially breakthroughs in new, cheap energy sources. Re-igniting broader innovation and finding ways of not merely creating jobs, but reversing the destructive push down on wages and labor costs holds the key to avoiding the prospective disasters of a new Baroque.

A must-read for all politicians, business people, government leaders, I.T. professionals and especially those who yearn for global change, BAROQUE TOMORROW is a true eye-opener, a radically new vision of our past, present and future. As it debunks the old cliches, the book brings readers out of the confines of complacency and superficial information, to deliver a message that can just mean the difference between failure and success.
