“This competition today doesn’t really reflect all the work we did this week,” said Filion. “We’ll have to adjust a couple of things technically, but it was an important competition for us because we wanted to live a different kind of stress — dive in front of our friends and family — and prepare for the world championships in Kazan.”
Filion said the gold helped make up for her second-place finish in the individual event.
“This medal has a lot of value to us not only because we put a lot of work in this, but because it’s a little balm on my wound of two days ago,” she said. “These are the Pan Am Games, that’s the title that we were missing, so it’s really great.”
“Today, we told ourselves that we would have fun diving, and that’s what we did,” said Gagne. “Our six dives were very consistent throughout the competition, and that’s why we ended up second.”
