Rob Ford’s new role as a board member at the Hockey Hall of Fame is not a full-time gig, so Toronto’s former mayor decided to weigh in on the Maple Leafs’ off-season rebuilding effort, including who should lead the team.

Ford is also big fan of Eric Brewer, a player who’d make a great seventh defender in 2002, and Zach Sill, who is best known for registering 20 points and 68 penalty minutes as a member of the Maritime Junior Hockey League’s Truro Bearcats.

Sill and Brewer, who were acquired around the trade deadline by the Leafs in separate deals, will both be unrestricted free agents this summer.
