A “kind” paramedic in Peel Region put on a full-body contamination suit Sunday morning to save a skunk with a cup stuck on its head.

Justin Mausz, an advanced care paramedic with Peel Regional Paramedic Services, had just pulled into the station on Goreway Dr., near Derry Rd., in Mississauga Sunday morning when he noticed the skunk running aimlessly around the parking lot with a coffee cup lodged on its head, said Superintendent Jim Morrison on Monday.

It was then Mausz donned the protective suit — something Morrison said is usually used to deal with infectious threats like the Ebola virus — and got down to rescuing the freaked-out animal.

Mausz posted a video on Twitter of him gingerly approaching the skunk, and then gently reaching down and pulling the cup off the animal’s head. The skunk then appears to run off in the opposite direction.
