Pedestrian dead after highway collision
A pedestrian is dead after being struck on Highway 427 Saturday afternoon.
It appears a male pedestrian was struck on the highway near Dundas Street, Sgt. Kerry Schmidt, with Ontario Provincial Police’s highway safety division, told CBC News. Paramedics said one person is dead.
It’s unclear why the pedestrian was on the highway.
“I don’t know how he got there. So that’s what we’re trying to figure out,” said Schmidt.
OPP have closed northbound ramps onto Highway 427 from the Gardiner Expressway and Queen Elizabeth Way, he said.
Schmidt expects it will take several hours before traffic on the highway is back to normal.
