Plumber 24 Hours Responds to New Infographic

Toronto News,(PR) April 16, 2013

The infographic, published in Mother Nature Network, suggests that 1.1 billion, an estimated sixth of the population, do not have access to clean water. According to the image, the three worst hit areas are Sub-Saharan Africa, Eastern Asia and Southern Asia respectively, between them covering 80% of this figure. As many as 2.5 billion do not have access to adequate sanitation, largely responsible for the fact that diarrheal diseases have become the fourth highest killer in the world. More people die from a lack of clean water and sanitation from all forms of violence- including war.

The worrying stats also exposed some of the countries who use the most water per capita, with the USA, Canada and Australia among the biggest culprits. On the other hand, the UK was among the top four countries who use their water more wisely.

As Martin Smith from Plumber 24 Hours explains, however, there is always more we can do to prevent water wastage

Some of the statistics shown through this infographic really are quite frightening, however it is good to see the UK is being more water efficient. People can help the issue further by ensuring that taps are not left running, and also checking for leaks regularly. This can quickly be rectified by a trained plumber and sooner rather than later- one drop per second could waste up to 3000 gallons per year.

Best known for its Bickley emergency plumbers, the team at Plumber 24 Hours are more than aware of the integral role plumbing has played in water and sanitation around the world. Martin Smith explains how plumbing is key to the health and safety of modern society.

Whilst the statistics we saw in the infographic are concerning, what is not emphasised is the fact that the industry contributes every day to alleviating these conditions.

Plumber 24 Hours is the nations leading emergency plumber company. Run by Martin Smith, the firm offers plumbers, gas engineers, oil engineers, drainage engineers and emergency electricians and works to provide a 24 hour domestic and commercial plumbing service 365 days of the year.
