Police in Saskatoon shoot two dogs that attacked man, then advanced on officers

SASKATOON—Police in Saskatoon say officers had to open fire at two large dogs that were attacking a man.

Officers were called about the incident at a home late Friday night, and police say in a news release that officers in the department’s plane could see the attack from the sky.

They say the dogs were still attacking the man when officers on the ground showed up at the home.

The release says both dogs then began to “aggressively advance” toward the officers, who were forced to fire their service weapons and stop the threat.

The 40-year-old man was transported to hospital, and police say he’s being treated for life-threatening injuries.

Police say both dogs are dead, and that the man and the dogs both lived at the home where the attack occurred.
