Raptors drop exhibition game to Nuggets

CALGARY—Dwane Casey is taking every opportunity to see what the end of the Toronto Raptorstraining camp roster can contribute.

Holding out two starters and limiting two others to less than 20 minutes, the coach mixed and matched a group that dropped a 108-106 decision to the Denver Nuggets before a sellout crowd of 19,600 at the Scotiabank Saddledome on Monday night.

The Raptors gave starters DeMarre Carroll (rest) and Jared Sullinger (sore foot) the night off and sat DeMar DeRozan and Kyle Lowry for the entire second half as Casey eases his team into the exhibition season.

In their places, the Raptors used the likes of Bruno Caboclo, Pascal Siakam, Lucas Nogueira and Drew Crawford for extended periods.

Terrence Ross led Toronto with 23 points while Kitchener’s Jamal Murray made his NBA debut and scored nine points in 17 minutes for the Nuggets.

DeRozan finished with 15 points in 16 minutes, Lowry had seven points in 18 minutes.
