Raptors’ Kyle Lowry to participate in all-star three-point contest

PORTLAND—Kyle Lowry will be putting his three-point shot up against the NBA’s elite on all-star Saturday night.

The league announced that the Toronto Raptors’ all-star point guard will be taking part in the Foot Locker Three-Point Contest Feb. 13.

Lowry is one of five all-stars taking part in the eight-man event. He’ll be trying to take down defending champion Stephen Curry of the Golden State Warriors and Curry’s teammate, Klay Thompson.

Miami Heat forward Chris Bosh, James Harden of the Houston Rockets, Devin Booker from the Phoenix Suns, Khris Middleton of the Milwaukee Bucks and L.A. Clipper J.J. Redick will also be taking part.

Participating in his second all-star game in a row, Lowry is shooting a career-best 38.8 per cent from three-point range this season. He is fourth in the NBA in three-pointers made at 135, and fifth in attempts at 348.

Curry has made a league-leading 232 three-pointers this season and is on track to destroy the record he set last year, with 286 threes made. He’s led the league in threes made in each of the last three seasons. The reigning MVP is averaging a league-best 29.8 points per game and is the catalyst to the Warriors’ 45-4 record.
