Review: OneAdaptr puts twist on universal charging

, Last Updated: 9:36 AM ET

Travelling outside North America can always be a hassle to use your gadgets because of the different types of electrical sockets, but the OneAdaptr Twist World Charging Station can solve that problem.

While there are a variety of different individual and universal travel adapters you can buy, the Twist is designed primarily with mobile users in mind as it comes with four USB ports.

You simply press the yellow button and twist the device until the proper plug comes out and plug it into the wall. It can work in standard sockets in North America, U.K., Europe and Australia, making it compatible in more than 150 countries.

Then you just connect your phone, tablet or anything else you can charge via USB. And since you can use it here too, it can be useful to just carry around with you in case you need to charge your devices on-the-go.

Granted, you’ll probably need a purse or some other kind of bag for it.

While you should be able to grip the Twist in one hand, it’s slightly taller than the average universal travel adapter and likely wouldn’t fit easily in your pocket.

But my main complaint is that it only works as a charger. You can’t plug any devices into it as it has no sockets of any type. The slightly more expensive Twist Plus has an adapter to charge a MacBook but if you’re a PC owner you’re out of luck.

The OneAdaptr Twist World Charging Station is available on OneAdaptr’s side for $ 53.29 while the Twist Plus is $ 59.95.
