Twain’s return follows an affliction with dysphonia — a vocal cord disorder — that forced her to stop singing. She has had intensive voice therapy over the past few years to relearn how to sing. In a recent interview with Rolling Stone, she said her voice is now deeper.

In a statement, Twain said Life’s About to Get Good was inspired by a personal mission to be more positive. She’s been writing new songs that reflect in part on her painful 2008 breakup with husband and producer Robert “Mutt” Lange.
“Writing is my therapy and writing this new album helped me come to terms with a lot of things emotionally,” she tweeted in March.
