SURREY, B.C.—Gun violence flared again early Tuesday morning in Surrey, as the suburban Vancouver city recorded its latest homicide, but investigators are waving off speculation about an escalating gang war.
Although it was the fourth death in Surrey since Sunday, when 27-year-old Manjot Dhillon and two other men were killed in two separate shootings, Pound said police had found no apparent links between the crimes.
“I think to speculate that there is a gang war going on is just simply that. It’s speculation at this point.”
“It appears to be related to criminal activity,” Pound confirmed, “but it does not appear to be gang-related.”
Homicide investigators were canvassing area homes in the neighbourhood overlooking the Pattullo Bridge early Tuesday morning, hoping to identify a suspect or turn up clues that could lead them to the killer.
Pound urged anyone with information about any of the three shootings to come forward.
