Toronto concert picks of Jan. 14.

“Personal Heaven”

Midge Ure

Glaswegian guitarist best known as the soaring voice behind new-wavers Ultravox of the early ‘80s built a solid career as a solo performer. Then Ultravox reformed and last year released their first studio album in 28 years, so he’s doing quite well on two tracks, playing some old and some new. First or two nights, with Right the Stars. Hugh’s Room, 8:30 p.m.

This is Awesome”

Christine Bougie and Dafydd Hughes

Duo of Christine Bougie on pedal steel (and other guitars) and Dafydd Hughes on keys just released an album of their low-key, groovy lounge goodness, and it’s worth checking out, along with this regular Monday gig. Tranzac, 7 p.m.

“Tear Me Down”

Hedwig and the Angry Inch

OK, it’s not a concert, but it does have the trappings: Seth Drabinsky returns as trans-rocker Hedwig, the theatrical show back in production under his direction for a run that goes till Jan. 27. Drake Underground, 7 p.m.
