City Council recognized the City of Toronto’s Long-Term Care Homes and Services division this morning for its high-quality care and customer service innovations, which were recently acknowledged by national and provincial organizations.
Mayor Rob Ford was joined by Councillor Giorgio Mammoliti (Ward 7 York West), Chair of the City’s Community Development and Recreation Committee, at a congratulatory presentation made to Reg Paul, General Manager, on behalf of the staff in Long-Term Care Homes and Services.
“I am pleased to recognize the tremendous high quality customer service that Long-Term Care Homes and Services is providing for our city’s seniors,” said Mayor Ford.
This year, Long-Term Care Homes and Services received Accreditation Canada’s national Accreditation with Exemplary Standing award – the highest possible level of performance recognition. The City’s 10 long-term care homes and community based programs met 99 per cent of the high priority criteria and 100 per cent of the required organizational practices.
Also, the provincial Innovation and Excellence Workplace Quality Award from the Ontario Association of Non-Profit Homes and Services for Seniors recognized the division’s practical and creative programs and strategies for fostering workplace excellence, and for engaging program staff to reduce incidents resulting in musculoskeletal disorders. The division also received this award in 2011 in the Supporting Seniors Category.
“The awards and acknowledgements we have received this year show that our staff provide exemplary care and service and are committed to improving the quality of life of those we serve,” said Paul.
