Woman taken to hospital with head injuries after car crash
A truck carrying gasoline T-boned a car near Keele St. and Finch Ave. W. Saturday morning, sending the car spinning and trapping a woman inside, police said.
The vehicles collided in front of a Tim Horton’s on Finch Ave. W. near Tangiers Rd. shortly after 8 a.m., police confirmed.
“She was trapped for a period of time and taken to Sunnybrook with some head injuries,” said Sgt. Rick Rowsome. He could not confirm the seriousness of her injuries.
When authorities arrived at the crash, the victim was still trapped in the crumpled Honda. They worked quickly to free her and, at 8:28 a.m., she was in an ambulance en route to Sunnybrook Hospital.
Fuel from the truck’s load did not leak onto the road, but police still shut off the area as they investigated the crash.
Traffic services, a police unit usually dispatched for fatal accidents, has not yet been sent to the scene.
No charges have been laid.
